Users of older OS versions can download SelfControl 1.5.1 for Mac OS X 10.5+. Just set a period of time to block for, add sites to your blacklist, and click 'Start.' Until that timer expires, you will be unable to access those sites—even if you restart your computer or delete the application. HOW TO BLOCK MOBILE APPSImportant note: Our latest app, Freedom 5.0, has significant improvements to app blocking. If you are running into any problems with Freedom, please make sure you upgrade to our latest version, which may solve the problem for you!
Note: Our pre-made filters will block both the website and its corresponding mobile app. For example if select the Gmail filter, it will block both Gmail.com and the Gmail iOS app.
To block a mobile app that is not already listed, you need its URL, similar to when you add a website to your blocklist.

iOS
1. Launch the Freedom app and log in.
2. Go to the Blocklists tab at the bottom 3. Either click on one of your blocklists to edit it, or create a new blocklist by selecting Add a blocklist.
4. Select what you want to block by toggling the pre-made filters or by selecting add block andadding your own websites and apps in the field empty field and selecting Add.
5. Enter the URL of a website or mobile app URL that you wish to block and select Add. Repeat this step until you have added all websites and mobile apps you wish to block.

6. Select Save.
Android
To choose the apps you wish to block, tap the Blocklists icon from the bottom of the screen and then tap 'Manage' next to Blocked Applications.
After tapping 'Manage', you'll see a list of your phone apps. On this screen, you can select the apps you wish to block while a Freedom session is running. Tap the toggle button next to the apps you would like to block and then tap 'Save'.
Note: You might not see all of your apps by default. To fix this, tap the three dots next to the magnifying glass and tap 'Show all apps':
To block websites, tap the Blocklists icon from the bottom of the screen and then tap 'Distractions' to add our premade blocks and custom websites to your blocklist.
THINGS TO NOTE: Our mobile service works by blocking the content coming in to apps. This can take up to 5 minutes to kick in due to caching - so make sure you run sessions lengths of 10 minutes or more. If your apps are still refreshing new data after 5 minutes, please let us know so we can help you with your blocklist! ![]() URLs FOR COMMONLY BLOCKED APPS
Many apps will require a different URL from their website in order to be blocked. Below is a list of URLs for commonly blocked apps.

HOW TO BLOCK DESKTOP APPSMac
1. Make sure the Freedom app is running and you’re logged in.
2. Click the Freedom icon in the top menu bar.
3. Select Manage Blocked Desktop Apps
4. When the window opens, select which desktop apps you want to block.
5. Click Save and close window.
Windows
1. Make sure the Freedom app is running and you’re logged in.

Mac and Windows
1. Launch Freedom and log in at freedom.to/log-in.
2. Create custom block list by selecting Add a blocklist on the dashboard
3. Name your blocklist
4. There are 3 options for choosing sites and mobile apps that you want to block

6. Click Save to save your blocklist
7. Select Start Now at the top of the dashboard and enter how many minutes you want the block to last.
8. Select {Your blocklist name} under Select blocklists
9. Select what devices you want to include in your block.
10. Select Start.
THINGS TO NOTE:
Once you have created a few blocklists and installed Freedom on your desktop computer, you can also start a Freedom session directly from the app in your menu bar:
1. Select devices
2. Select blocklists
3. Choose a session length and start your session
iOS:
1. Launch the Freedom app on your device and log in.
2. Once in the app, select the Blocklists tab at the bottom
3. Create custom blocklist by selecting Add a blocklist
4. Name your blocklist and toggle any of the sites and their corresponding
apps from the filter list that you want to block

6. Click Save to save your blocklist
7. To start a session now: Select the Start session tab at the bottom
8. Select which devices you’d like to include in your block session.
9. Select which blocklists you'd like to include in your block session
10. Select either the Session Length or the End Time of the session.
